AUCKLAND SCRATCHIXGS. By Telegraph.—Press Associat'on. Auckland, Nov. !>B. •Sitsuainjf anil Clieluiua were scratched lor Hit' Auckland Cup and Cheloiua und Sweet Com for the i'aihvav Handicap at 11.50 a.m. TUBF TOPICS. (By '"Aloturoa.") Concluding day at Takapuna. Feilding races to-day and to-morrow. What price Depredation at Takapuna to-day ? ' Guiding Way is meeting a lot of "roughs" in the Stanley Hurdles. Tiicy say that Rewi Poto will not be a runner at Feilding. Walter Raynor, with Vladian and Marton, appears to hold a strong hand ill the Spring' Hurdles to-day. Hand-Scupper Geo. Morse lias been confined to his bed for a week, and could not attend the Takapuna meet-
A lot of rain fell at Feilding 011 Monday night, and the going should suit Maniaroa, wlu is a rare "mud-lark." There is a mixed lot in the Trial Plate at Feilding, and the imported Acie mav be a hot favorite at the finish.
Guiding Way broke hi; "duck" as a hurdler on Saturday, and rounded matters off by landing a double in good stvle.
Interlude is getting well up in the weights nowadays, and she is not the build ot a (illy likely to carry weight either." , .
Veto, when only half-ready, ran a good' second at Wnverley. and she is likely to carry a lot of Hawera money in tier l'eilding engagements. AA'anganui punters will not hear of Record's defeat, and this poor scribe will be a dollar short if the "good thing'' fails to run forward in his engagements this week. AVorcester appeared to have the measure of Guiding AA r ay as they ran to* "ether at a gap in the last fence of the Ponui Hurdles on Saturday, but the former got the worst of the bumping, and another defeat went down on his list.
Kitty Bellairs was first out in the Borough Handicap, and held the rails until they turned for 'home, when she quickly compounded. Probably the state of the going was against her. Maniaroa (7.1.1), led Square Deal (7.12) home in the St. Andrew's Handicap last year. To-day they will carry 8.4 and 8,1(1 respectively, and the odd* appear to again be in favor of the Inglewoodowned neddy.
There is a race on the programme t'o-day called the "Tenth Fcilding Stakes." As a matter of fact, it is the eleventh! The race originated in lftOO. Two-year-olds filled the places in last year's Feilding Stakes, and it looks as if Crowhurst will keep Bimeter and Co. busy to-day. ' " Munition and Camp Guard are likely to run well in forthcoming engagements. Both have improved in condition since winning at AA'averley last month. Another string of coincidences! Ardenvohr was housed in the same stable and in the same box as that occupied by Lady Lucv before she won the Sew Zealand Cup. Mrs. Friedlander's horse was the same number— "unlucky 13' and therefore had the same box on the courses. "Bobby" Young won on Ladv Lucy, and his brother Harold piloted Ardenvohv. Another coincidence, though a painful one, is that Moturoa" lost good money over the ruimerui) to each of them! The Stratford Racing Club wants a capable and reliable handicapper for the second day of the New Jetir meeting. Sow, here's a chance for the crowd that is always pulling J. Henry, B. Coyle G. Morse, and company to pieces All that is required is ability—<vnrt pluck! Ihe trouble is that while we have heaps, of plucky ones with ability, there aie few capable men who would take on the job where Taranaki owners are concerned. Taranaki is the home _ of Tumblers, and those who fun tlieit horses into form (at the publics expense) are the biggest growlers.
