EMBEZZLEMENT CHARGE FAILS. By Telegraph.—Pr«M Association. Auckland, Nov. 28. In the Supreme Court, ,Tamss Shaldrick, secretary of the Onehunga Lodge >f the A.0.F., was charged with embezzling sums totalling £lO3. After healing the evidence, Mr. Justice Stringer said there was no evidence tint ac cused had applied money to his owr. uses while the discrepancies*might be due to a loose, system of book-keeping. By his Honor's direction the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and accused was discharged. FAILURE TO ENROL Palmerston N., Nov. 28. jaT-.cs -Tosatih Coyle, a flaxmill hand, was charges ui the Police Court with failing to'inunt application to enrol under the Milita'ry Service/ Act. Defendant said he had served! in the British Army and had come to New Zealand from America, en route to Australia, looking for a lost brother. A constable gave evidence that defendant said: "If the Government want me they will have to chase me." Coyle was convicted and sentence was reserved.
