An important item of news from England is the statement fiiat a number of big munition concerns are about to pool their capital to the extent of £30,000,000 and sink their identity in a gigantic combine. That this will embrace a sectipn of the motor trade is almost certain, and as the object is to combat foreign trade after the war, its influence upon the motor industry is obvious. It will, of course, be suggested that such a pooling of interests will enable the problem of the cheap car with a gigantic output to bo tackled as has,, never before been possible, but at present it does not seem to affect the manufacture of light cars to any appreciable extent. It is early yet to speculate on the ultimate result, however, and the scheme will be watched with the greatest interest. The motor-car manufacturers will undoubtedly bo faced with some very big problems after the war, and it may be that they will have to Americanise their manufacturing methods. , ,
