CITIZENS' BAND.

SECORD OF ACTIVITIES. In a report recently submitted to tlift Citzen's Band Committee by the bandmaster (Mr. F. W. G. McLeod), special reference was made to the work (ion- 1 by Jie band during Comforts' Week. The bandmaster expressed iiis appreciation of the efforts made by the bandsmen, committee, and helpers during that period. Special thanks are-due, he said, to M : .ss Grace Wilson (in charge of sweets stall at band concert); Miss Hooker (who made all the Pierrot hats—a big undertaking); Miss Preston, dressmaker, for valuable help with the suits; Mr. J Lobb (timber); Mr. Rich, painting bulldog; Mr. Roeh, ice creams and outfit; Mr. A. Hooker, for milk; Mr. E. Sole, ice, salt, etc.; Mrs. 1). Smith, Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Bradley, Mrs. M'lntosh, Mr;. Thompson, Mrs. F. Coleman. Mrs. W. Pel lew. am" the wives of bandsmen for. valuable assistance; also Mr. H. Feet; and M. 11. Dickson (who acted as drummajor). The suits were cut out by Bandsman C. Sullivan, who also did n share of the sewing. The making of the pom poms (some 30 dozen) rested with Mr 3. M'Lond and some of her lady friends. When it was found that Comforts' Week resulted 'n -considerably over £IOOO being netted from various sources for the Comforts' Fund, the band had reason to be proud of its connection with the effort. Mr. M'Leod acknowledges, with thanks, the gift of eight splendid bentwood chairs by Mrs. Blackloy. Mr. F. Coleman, who had been associated with the band for a number of years, had resigned. Thiiteen parades had been held by the band, including six during Comforts' Week. ill'. M'Lcoc. referred to the formation of the Citizen's Junior Band, and said there were 3.1 young men receiving tuition at the bandroom, independent of the Citizens' Band. A promise had been made by the band to take part in the fete in Messrs. Sole Bros.'s grounds on December 14 and 15, to be held on behalf of the British Red Cross Society. Concluding, Mr. MUeod said the band purposes to give week-night recitals as etrlj as they could be arranged;
