AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Saturday .ifternoon. In the absence of the president, Mr. W. B. Grant presided. The meeting confirmed the decision of the executive committee to issue blue ribbon badges in lieu'of tickets to members at the autumn show. The society agreed to allot £3 3s. as <i prize for a boys' cow judging competition, and to add four classes of Southdowns in- the sheep section. In the semi-officially tested cow section, which is subsidised by the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association to the extent of £lO, provided there are six entries or more, the society decided that in the event of there being three or less than six estries, to award £5 in prizes—First £3, second £1 10s, and third 10s. The Chairman reported that the recent floods in the Waiwakaiho River had done considerable damage to the society's grounds. A portion of the bank abutting on the grounds near the horse stalls had been washed away. Steps should be taken, said the Chairman, to prevent further damage being done by future floods. It was reported that the. society was in a sound financial position, there being a credit balance of over £9OO. The debenture money was coming, in freely. Mr. G. Colson reported that he 'had .secured a number of paddocks for the accommodation of stock at the show, and arrangements had been made foi the supply of green feed. J
