Extensive alterations to the Empire Theatre are being carried out. The office fronting Devon Street is being removed, and in its place an entrance to the stalls is being made. The present entrance will serve the dres* circle only. The ceiling over the circle is being raised, regraded, and enlarged. Particular attention is being paid to ventilation, which will be greatly improved. The operating box is being removed from inside the dress circle to a point above the balcony. The latest type of spring cushion seats will be substituted for the present seats.
