BOWLING, (From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood, Nov. 24. Idea! weather prevailed on Thursday for the opening of the bowling season. There was a large attendance of visiting bowlers, principally from New Plymouth Stratford, and Okato, and all expressed themselves a 9 delighted with the excellent order of the green, which is a credit to those responsible for its care. The president (Mr. Percival) welcomed the visitors and declared the green opened, calling upon Mrs. Marshall, in the absence of Mrs. Percival (who was again unable to be present), to throw the first jack. Teams were selected by the president and vice-president, the result being as follows, the president's teams being mentioned first:—

Robert's, Peteh, Edgecombe. Wilson (s.), 22, v. McLaggan, Frewin, Cod.l, Smart (s.), 10. Pvne, Roebuck, Fvolston, Bickerton (s.) 31, v. Paget, Davis, Spurdle, Leslie (s.i, IS. Ewing, Cork ill. Percival, Brown (s.), 24, v. Lyons, Morrison, Cottier, Allen 31.

Mills. McDonald. Drake, Branch (s.), 23, v. Gunderson, Marshall, Lightfoot, Morton (s.'i, 21.' Totals: President, 1:00; Vice-President, 86. I should not forget to mention that Messrs Ewing (New Plymouth) ar.d Smart (Stratford) suitably replied on behalf of the visitors to the president's welcome. GOLF. The mixed foursome flag competition on Thursday afternoon brought the golf season to a close, Maetzig and Miss Laing proving the winners, with O'Carroll and Mrs. O'Carroll a very close second. The prizes were four golf balls to each of the winners, and £wo each to the runners-up, and were presented by Mr. Brown. GENERAL. The following have been called up for military service: Messrs Jas. Anderson, F. Nicholls, H. Fetch, and L. Sehraider.
