CARGO PILFERING By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 24. Evidence of widespread cargo pilfering has been discovered on the steamer Opawa, which arrived from Liverpool, via Sydney, yesterday. The Customs searchers found broken cases in the holds and elsewhere, and plants of pillaged cargo. There were indications of an alarming amount of broaching. T\so seamen have been arrested and charged with pillaging. THE DRIVERS' DISPUTE Wellington, Nov. 24. The Drivers' Federation states that Mr. Hemes, Acting-Minister of Labor, has agreed to call a compulsory conference of the employers' and men's representatives in the drivers' dispute for Tuesday, the matter to be dealt with on a Dominion basis, both sides to suspend hostilities meanwhile, any agreement tc come into operation from next Monday. CHARGES OF PERJURY. Rotorua, Nov. 24. The six of Ilua's followers, who were arrested on the coast, are to be charged with perjury.
