CARRIEIRS' TROUBLE.

After a conference lasting over two Jays, the representatives of the employers in tiie carrying industry reached a decision in the matter of the driveis' wages, which lias threatened trouble owing'to dissatisfaction felt by the unionist-, throughout the Dominion at, the recent award of the Arbitration Court. Mr. W. Pryor, secretary of the Employers' Federation, made a statement to the Press, embodying the results of the conference, anil the ease for the employers. As a result of the deliberations, it was decided to convey the following resolution to the Acting-Prime Minister (Hon. J. Allen) and tile Act-ing-Minister for Lafcor (Hon . W. IT. Hemes)— 'That this meeting cannot recommend the employers to agree to any alteration in the minimum rates of'pay awarded by the Arbitration Court,' but that they should individually be recommended to pay such increased rates as a war bonus as the capabilities of workers and other circumstances justify.'' It was also decided to recommend each centre to tal;e the matter up, and see that the intention of 'the conference be given full effect to.
