(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the S.M. Court on Thursday, liet'oie Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., the following cases were heard:—C. Gill v. Kupe* junr., for payment of five coils of fencing wire ( Co). sold to defendant in 1914. The defence was that the wire was given by plaintiff to enable defendant to keep out plaintiff's sheep from trespassing. The Magistrate non-suited plaintiff, with Court costs, Hilda Kopp v. J. Neilson, both of Te Kiri. 'Plaintiff sued for the return of a cart, taken possession of by defendant. The defendant sold the cart to plaintiff for £7 10s„ and alleged that the money was not paid, and took the part. The Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for £7 10s, with costs, £2

In tlie undefended cases, judgment was given for plaintiff in each instance Bartle Bros. v. M. Thompson, £2l 17s, ]e.ss £6 paid into Court, costs £2 Os Cd; W. A. Lind and Co. v. Meo■lianga, £6 7s, costs £1 las 6d; N. 0. Andrews v. Jimmy Putu, £2, costs £1 las 6d; X. 0. Andrews v. Komene, £2 15s. Defendant paid Hie claim, but not tile costs, and for this omission he was mulcted in costs £1 ss. In the judgment debt cases, orders were granted in:—Reynolds and Taylor B. Waller, £1 Is 2d; Wake and Gow v. John Neilson, £2; Archie Phillips v. Autetehe, £B. GENERAL. ' The examination of the Public School pupils took place on Monday, under Inspectors Morton and Ballantyne. Proficiency scholars from the Convent and near-by schools were examined at the Opunake School. The Pihama Bowling Club opened the season on Wednesday afternoon. Bowlers were present from Manaia, iuroa, and Opunake. Mr. R. Lambie (president) welcomed the visitors, and, after a pleasant game and liberal hospitality, Mr. J. Feaver (Opunake) thanked the Pihama Club and ladies for the enjoyable afternoon. The public meeting to bo held on Tuesday afternoon should interest every elector. The drawback in the past has been that harbor affairs have not been given more publicity, and the meeting on Tuesday should give everyone a chance to air his opinion—and there are some .pronounced opinions on harbor affairs in the Opunake district.
