"FINAL VICTORY."
FAMOUS RUSSIAN'S MESSAGE TO ; NEW ZEALAND. GENERAL BRUSSILOW'S X>NFIDENCF A most interesting autograph letter from the dashing Russian leader, Genoral Brussilow (more commonly spelt "Brusiloll"') has been received by Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., in reply to one sent to him some months ago:—"Having read in French official papers that General Pau, for the Allied armies, received a promise from Rouniania, through Bratiano and Jonescu, that one of the conditions of lier intervention in the occupation, by Russia, of Czernowitz and Bultowina, and realising as I do that your army, on account of the season of the year, cannot move till .Tune, I send you good wishes from New Zealanders, and wish you success in your offensive on the East, and hope that such offensive will be the turning point of the great war. New Zealand is much stirred by the wonderful recuperative powers of your country and the munitionment of your army, and the way in which Russia has become a powerful and important arm, working in the cause of humanity." The reply from the now famous soldier is as follows: September 14, 1910. "Dear Sir—Pleading your letter, I appreciate the sincere sympathy of New Zealnnders for Russia and her army. Kindly testify to your countrymen that we draw new strength for the annihilation of the enemy from the feelings you express in your kindly letter. We all believe in final victory.—l am, sir, respectfully yours, A. Brussilow."
