The annual meeting of the Victoria League will he Jield in the Kawarua Park Pavilion on Wednesday, 22nd ins.t., at 3 p.m. All members and friends are invited to attend. The Women's Patriotic Committee wish to thank Mrs. Evans, Veale's estate, for kindly lending sewing machine for use in the depot. We are still, in need of one or two more sewing/ ina chines. With the Uiemii girls' gift of clothing five eases will be shipped this month to London. There is still a little space in the last case and Mrs. Burgess would be pleased tc receive any gi f ts friends may have ready in order to finish the packing.
MANGATOKI PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. Following is an account of the activities of the Ladies' Branch of the Mangatoki Patriotic Committee for the period September to November, 1010: From donations received were procured '2solbs. of cake, made by the Eltham bakers from material supplied from the funds. Thirty-seven gift tins were packed for the boys at the front who have left this district, each containing 41bs. cake, i/jlb. cornflour, one writing companion, one packet soup powder, lollies, chocolates, one tin cigarettes, one pair sox, one handkerchief, and one pair bootlaces, . Each parcel was posted tc the individual local lad, and the remainder of the cake packed in the usual comfort .boxes. Four of these were sent in October, in time to reach the front for Christmas. There will be sent next month three boxes of the usual comforts, one to Mesopotamia, one for Samoa, and one for France. Last month the Jadies forwarded a large case for the Belgians, containing 50 children's new outfits, 10 women's garments (secondhand), making 360 garments in all.
