DEUTSCHLAND'S VOYAGE.
CARGO WORTH £400,000. LOSS OF BREMEN ADMITTED. New York, Nov. 1. The German merchant submarine Deutsehland arrived at New London from Germany at two o'clock to-do y. The voyage from Bremen occupied 20 days. The Deutschland's cargo consisted of 750 tons of dye stuffs, medicines, and chemicals, worth £400,000. Crowds of people thronged the dock this afternoon in the hope of catching a glimpse of the craft, but were disappointed, so well was the submarine borthed, the rnasfs not showing. The start from Bremen was delayed ten days because of a collision. According.to Captain Koenig's stor.y, the vessel was submerged for a total of'l2o miles near the English coast. The captain has brought despatches for Count von Bernstorfi. According to a statement by an aitificer' on the Deutsehland, the Bremen was' lost. Germans do not think she was captured, but that an accident befel her at sea. The third submarine, Amerika, is at Bremen, and will sail soon. She is the largest of the three. The Deutsehland was w wireless communication with U53 all the way across. "In an emergency," said the engineer, <; she was to have come to our aid. We saw many warships, but evaded them." 1 Washington officials closely in touch with the submarine situation declare that in future German submarines visiting American ports will be certain to enter either New London or Newport. They will" avoid Hampton Roads, fearing that British nets will be spread there American submarines are constantly using Newport and New London, and it is therefore not expected that the Britisn would take chances of their r.ots endangering American craft.
