Colonel Moraht, writing in the Berline Tageblatt, says that recent events in the West must he regarded as a serious warning for the future. Germany must in no wise be blind to England's great technical achievements. SIR DOUGLAS HAIG CONGRATULATED. London, Nov. 10. The King, in a message to Sir Douglas Haig. says: "I heartily congratulate yon on the great success of your gallant troops during the past three days on tl\e Ancre. This further capture uf first line trenches under special difficulties due to the recent wet weather, redounds to the credit of all ranks." Sir Douglas .Haig replied by sending his most gi'ateful and respectful thanks. A GERMAN REPORT'. London, Nov. 15. A German communique says: Yesterday was a great battle day on the Ancre, equalling the 13th. The English attacked in heavy masses and captured Beaumont Hamel. Elsewhere they failed. The communique shows that Brandenburgers, as a Guards Division, wer.r among the troops opposed to the British.
