A Sydney cable states that Mr Drew, a member of the South African Parliament, is a passenger for New Zealand by the Moeraki. Brigadier-General dastard, commanding the 17th Australian Infantry Brigade, lias been killed in France.—Cable. The death pf Mr. C. Studholme, the Sew Zealand sportsman, from on attack of .pneumonia, is reported from Sydney. A London cable states that Sir Joseph Ward left hui*'e;lly for Dublin, where his son, Uladsione, >has had a serious relapse, following a motor accident a few weeks ago. A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Mr. John Kent, president of the i'.M.C.A In tlie list of men dangerously i'l ironi wounds, which appeared on Wednesday, was included E. C. Sanson, a son o£ Mr. 11. Sanson, jun., Stratford. Mr. fi. T. Murray, hitherto actingstall' engineer to the Public Works Department at Christelmrch, is at present lilling the position of district engineer in Auckland, pending the appointment iof the successor of Mr. F. Bigs-Wither, who lately vacated the oflice, and is retiring from the public service on superannuation.
