This ended the interview, and»it was resolved that the matter of fixing the rent for the two and a half 1 months that the shed was in occupancy by Borthv.'ick's he left in the hands of the chairman, with .power to act. A deputation from the East Beach Improvement Society waited on the Board to support an application, signed by 120 residents of Waitara East, for the Board tc cancel the agreement with the Borough Council for depositing rubbish on the Board's section near the beach. The spokesman (Mr. Buchanan) pointed out that the carters were dumping the rubbish ever a wide area, which w now unsightly and unsavory.—lt was resolved that the agreement with the Council be cancelled. The deputation also asked permission for control of the east fbreshore, similar to the existing agreement between the Board and the West Beach Improvement Society.—The application was granted. With regard to the conditions of leas,; i;t foreshore leases applied for by Borthw'ick and Sons, it was resolved that they be left in the hands of a subcommittee, consisting of -Messrs. Hine, Ogle, and Vaughan. The matter of attending to wharf '• flairs and all damage done by the recent flood was left in the hands of tlie | Works Committee.
