In the ease of the borough, the number of schedules issued indicates practically the number of dwellings, except where two families reside.- in one house. In New Plymouth a total of 2008 schedules were collected. In 1911 the population of Taranaki County, including boroughs of lnglewood, New Plymouth and Waitara, was 17.208, of whom 8050 were males and 8552 females. In 1910 the correspond-, ing figures are 18,419, 9015, 9404. Th« effect of tlie war is apparent in the fact that while th» females are 852 in ei-cet-9 of the last census, the male increase is only 359. The population of Clifton County in 1811 was 2108, of whom 1278 wore males and 920 /emalc.
