A PROPHESY.
BY AUSTRALIAN PRISMIER. The following prophetic statement li>s been given oy the Australian Premier (Mr. W. H. Hughes)We i"i,nt 284,000 single men, in addition tc the men at the Front, to carry ur to the ;r.d of the war We have only to keep 100,000 men in the fiont trenches, subject to only one thing—that Roumania can hold her own in the present battle, my own opinion is—and I have talked with the leaders of Britain, France and Italy that the Austrian Empire will fall ic April or May of next year. Then Italy and Roumania will be on ihe flanks of Germany, wlu will either have to d.-fej:d a tremendous line or withrttaw to German soil. From about Iky next v/e may lcok to see German/ ftyliUng on lier own soil. X do not underestimate the potential strength of Germany,- and if she elects to light until she is absolutely beaten, no man can put a pericd to the end of the var. But I "ie'ieve Germany's morale will be sapped and shattered when the fight is on her own soil, and then we may reasonally look fo\ the end of the war about this time next year.
