POPULATION STATISTICS. j The census returns for the Taranaki County and New Plymouth, as supplied by tli'o enumerator (Mr. C. H Burton), disclose interesting features. Since 1911 the population of New Plymouth has increased by 3407, an increase which is largely duft to the ex-tension of the borojgh boundaries, while thu population of Taranaki County, Inglewood, and Waitara lias decreased. The figures are as follow: Taranaki Count?. —Males, 3679; females, 3119; total, 7098—in 1911, 9245. New Plymouth Borough.—Male's, 4094; females, 4011; total, 8705—in 1911, 5238. Inglewood Borough —Males, 500; females, 033; total, 119!; in 1911, 1273. Waitara Borough.—Males, 078; females, 744; total 1422—in 1911, 1452. !
