THE CALL FOR MEN.
(Fro:n Our Special Correspondent.) : ' , Wellington, Nov. 8. The four Medical Hoards appointed under the Military .Service Act are ready to begin theii work, and some preliminary sittings were held yesterday. The first duty of these Boards is to examine men who have been summoned under clause 35 of the Act, and it is probable that this task will occupy them for the next two or three weeks. The members of the Boards will all hold the temporary rank of lieutenantcolonel in the New Zealand Medical Corps, and they will devote their time to the work of the Defence Department in the Military Districts to which Miey have been assigned.
A man who is summoned for service cither under clause 33, or in consequence of a ballet, need not lodge an appeal if his {(round for claiming exemption is physical unfitness. lie is bound to present himself for medical examination ia any case, and will he required to go before one of the Medical Boards, where his case will be considered by experts. If lie ha* nny physical defect or weakness sufficient to disqualify him for service, the fact will be established then.
