To the Editor. Sir,—May I be allowed, through the columns of your paper, to reply to a letter from Mi. Ellis, appearing in today's News? I am sorry that I cannot oblige Mr, Ellis by foregoing my lecture at the Empire Theatre on Sunday next, but I am quite wjlling to meet him in public debate, at any hall any day next week, Monday for preference. I certainly consider Mr. Ellis worthy of my steel, and trust that when he has- finished his "smashing" operations I shall be- in a. tit condition to gather up the pieces.—l am, etc., JOHN KELLAND. * r "
