PATRIOTIC WORK.
RED CROSS MART. Friends of the Red Cross Society brought in to New Plymouth on Saturday ' a quantity of produce, food, vegetables, and flowers, and these were disposed of by the Red Cross organisation at satisfactory prices. The sum of £9 was realised. It has been decided to open the mart on Wednesday afternoon. Contributions of goods for this sale on Wednesday will be received at Messrs Sole Bros.' premises at Devon Street. The cause of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund is being assisted by an art union that was opened on Saturday. Mrs. C. Colson, of Hillsborough, has knitted a fine 7 " quilt, and has handed this o\er to the Hillsborough Ladies' Committee as tl)2 prize in the art union. The quilt is on view in Mr. L. E. Hoffmann's wir.-dow, in Devon Street, and to those, who saw it on Saturday it was evident that Mrs. Co'lson had devoted a great deal of time, patience, and material in completing it.
