CIVIL WAR. NATIONALISTS DEFEAT KOYALISTS Athens, Nov. 3. _ Sijj hundred Greek Nationalists came mto conflict with a detachment of Royalist E\ zones in the village 'of Litochari, this side of the Cerna Elver. The Evzones were forced to retreat to Ekaterini, which later the evacuated, the Nationalists occupying Ekaterini and capturing all the military stoics. The Government dispatched reinforcements from Larissa. CONSTANTINE PLAYING FAST AND LOOSE ALLIES MAKING WHLOESALK ARRESTS, Received Nov. 5,5.5 p.m. London, Xo/., 3, The Morning Post's Athens correspondent states that serious complications threaten as a sequel to the Venewlists' occupation of Ekaterini. The garrison of 150 feebly resisted, and suffered five killed and then retired. The Government obtained the French controlling officers' permission to send reinforcements. The opposing forces are now facing each other. Whether it is a prelude to civil war the correspondent oaronot yet say, but the Venizclists point out that,.in consequence of.the torpedoings, they were empelled to transport volunteers from the railway to Ekaterini, which Venizclists must, therefore, hold. The Daily Chronicle's Athens correspondent says the' Royalist, reinforcements numbered 400, but it is stated the Nationalists outnumbered the Royalists. The Royalists, however, w?ro < better equipped with machine-guns. ' It is reported the Allies refuted lo allow the despatch)' of further Rovalists. A Royalist newspaper nssH.s tliat King Constantine is revoking his promise to the Allies to remove troop; from Thcesaly to 'Peloppone&us, owing t;> the Nationalists' advance. The correspondent also states that tho Entente is immediately ordering wholesale arrests of spies connected with the submarinings. Over 200 si:spcet« in Athens and the Piraeus have, already been arrested. Admiral de Fournet lias sent a message to the labor unions that he in' convinced the Angelici and Kiki victims of the submarines were the result of the betrayal by agents ashore, and that he is arresting suspects, whether u'sek? or foreigners. He will refuse to consider any Greek protests. ' ■■ • f; ■ IGHTING RESUMED, jReceived Nov. 5, 5.15 p.m. j " Athens, Nov. 4. Fighting has been resumed at Ekaterini between the Royalists and the Nationalists. It is stated that negotiations are progressing whereby within 10 days no difficulty will be placed in the way of volunteers proceeding to Salonika. Seven Greek ships have been sunk in twelve days. The Athens correspondent of the "Daily Mail states that an extraordinary situation has been created owing to the officers at Larissa sending reinforcements to oppose the Venizclists' advance from Ekaterini. This is considered intolerable and has filled the VenisclUts with astonishment.
