CROQUET.
OPEXIXG- DAY AT FITZROY. There was a large attendance of ladies at the opening of the Fitzroy Croquet Club, an adjunct of the Fitzroy Bowling Club. _ The lawn, thanks to the attention it has received since last sen son, and to the services of Mr. O, Oxenham, Was in splendid order, and play proved very enjoyable. Mr. F. C. Tiellringer, in his remarks at the formal opening, referred to the action of the Bowling Club in catering for the pleasure of the ladies, and expressed the wish that they would have an enjoyable time. He then called on Mrs. Healy to make the first stroke, and, this being gracefully performed, the green was declared open for the season. In such pleasant surroundings, ai;d with such a good lawn there should be a large addition to the membership, especially in view of the tram service.
