THE (PUBLIC SERVICf; DIFFICULTIES OVERCOME By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last N:ght. Some time ago the Public Service Association applied to the Supreme Court for an originating summons, with a view to obtaining an interpretation on points arising out of the administration of the Public Service Act. Since the summons was filed the Hon. t'J W. Russell convened a conference of Commissioners and representatives of the Public Service Jind Post and Telegraph Officers' Associations, at which the various points were discussed. The Minister indicated that the Government was not prepared to allow the summons to be proceeded with. As the result of the conference, all matters in 'dispute except one has been settled, and steps are being taken to withdraw the summons.
