LOSS OF MARINA. SURVIVORS' STORIES. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE? London, Nov 1. The Marina was torpedoed in a gale without warning. A survivor from the Marina slates that the men in the boats had a terrible experience, and almost perished from cold, as it was 17V 2 hours before they were picked up. The second mate, Robertson, was crushed to death between a boat and the vessel. A member of the crew said he saw two submarines. The Marina quickly broke up after the explosions. It was uncertain whether the second war, due to the boilers exploding. Captain Browne saw everyone into the boats and then jumped, missed the boat, and was drowned. The torpedo exploded among the bunkers and disabled the engines. Several were killed in the stokehold, and some scalded. Three boats got away; the fourth was smashed. The explosion wrecked the wireless. None of the engineers or officers were saved. LORD BERESFORD'S VIEWS' New York, Ncv. 1. The London correspondent of the New York Times interviewed Lord Beresford regarding his speech in the House of Lords, in which he said that America was aiding and abetting shameful wholesale torpedoing at sight, endangering lives. Lord Beresford said he did not mean to criticise the American Navy, whose chivalry and courage was everywhere admitted, but, in view of the action of the German submarines, we should, be careful that relations between Britain and America were not disturbed. German submarines operating on the 'Portuguese coast sank a Norwegian steamer. The crew have landed. DEUTSCHLAND'S ARRIVAL i New York, Nov. 1. 1 The Deutschland has arrived at New London. She left Germany on October 10 with a- cargo of chemicals «uul dyes, and a crow of twenty-five. Captain Koenig said the voyage was delayed for ten days on account of a collision. EETURN OF U53, Amsterdam, Nov. 1. An official Berlin message says that the U53 has returned safely.
