SCENIC RESERVE BOARD.
QUARTERLY MEETIXfi. : Tlit usual quarterly meeting of tlie Scenic Reserve* Board was held on Thursday at 'the Crown Lands Office. Mr. G. H. Bullard (Commissioner of Crown Lands) presided. Other members present were: Dr. Lcatham, Messrs 'Percy-Smith, F.R.G.S, W. A. Collis and K. W. Davies. ONAERO DOMAIN. The secretary read a letter received from the Assistant-Under-Secretary for Lands, in reply to a communication from tlie Board with respect to the proposal to have the Onaero Domain converted into an endowment for the benefit of the scenic, reserves administered by the Board. It was pointed out that the proposal was not feasible. It was resolved to bring the matter up again on the occasion of the next visit of the Minister in charge to the district, in order that the whole position might be brought under his notice. PUKEMIRO AND ONAERO RESERVES. Die chairman and Mr. Percy-Smith, who had beer deputed by the Board to inspect the I'ukemiro and Onaero river iwwc reserves, gave a verba! report as to their present state, stating that the land was in fair order except for porse ori* the Onaero reserve, A tender for cutting the gorse had already been accepted at £6 10s. •PUKERAXCIORA PA. The chairman reported that the Pnkerangiora Pa reserve was badly infested with noxious weeds, the present tenant having failed to comply with the conditions of lib lease in that respect, granted prior to the reserve being- taken over by the Board. On the invitation of Dr. Leatham, ar inspection of the land by members was arranged for November 1, in ordei that steps might be taken to cancel the existing lease, if desirable, and deal otherwise with the land according to circumstance;:. EATAPIHIPIIM RESERVE. Mr. Percy-Smith stated that, as promised earlici in the year, lie hoped to undertake the grading of certain paths through the Katapihipihi reserve at an ] early date. | Messrs Coll it and Davies reported having made arrangements: for providing wattle plants for next year's planting on the open patches of the reserve as previously decided 011 by the Board. The chairman reported having made enquiries about suitable concrete fencing posts at a satisfactory price. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Collis, seconded by Dr. Leatham, to leave detail arrangements in the hands of the chairman for fencing one-half of tlie east, and south of the reserve in concrete and wood posts at a cost not to exceed £'2o. It was further resolved to spend the balance of the vote (about £5) 011 path formation in the reserve after Mr. Smith had graded the same.
