Onions, £4 to £5 ss. ■ SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Sydney, October 20, The wool sales were firm and the market for crossbreds continued to implore. Short burry wools were iregular. / LONDON WOOL SALES. London, October 23. At the wool sales there was a better election, and spirited competition. Fine crossbreds were 5 per cent, to 7y« per cent, above September sales. Canities were selling freely, and slipes were par to five per cent, advance. Merinos had a hardening tendency. The Ohaka clip sold at ,top 40d, average 38% d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 14th inst.: — Wool Sales. —A good demand; merino poorly represented, par to 5 per cent., crossbred greasy (fine) 7'/ 2 per cent., medium coarse a per cent., other sorts par to 5 per cent, higher as compared with September 22. (RECORD WHEAT PRICE. 1 Chicago. October 20. Wheat reached 185'/ 3 .cents, a record. HIDE SALES Melbourne, Oct. 20. Hides. There are fair supplies.
