CARPENTER'S SUDDEN DEATH
THE INQUEST. An enquiry into the circumstances connected with the death of Frederick IPratt, who was found dead in St. Aubyn street on Thursday evening, was held before Mr. A. Crooke, Coroner, yesterday. Evidence was given by Henry Kelly, tailor, that he met deceased at a quarter to seven' on Thursday evening, near the Terminus Hotel' Witness and deceased were engage i for a few moments in a general conversation, during which deceased made no complaint about his health. A few minutes later witness returned to St. Aubyn street, and found deceased lying on the footpath. Dr. D. Blackley deposed to finding deceased lying on the footpath, quite dead. A post mortem examination revealed that deceased's internal organs were diseased, the kidneys, liver and heart being affected. Witness was of opinion that death was due to sudden heart failsrc.
Albert August Renner, builder, at present employed in New iPlymoutll on the erection of the A.M.P. building, said deceased Imd been a foreman -carpenter in witness' employ for six '-years. Deceased was in good health and' -spirits up to the time witness last saw him—about six o'clock on Thursday eveningHe had previously complained of a heart affection. deceased was a very steady, hard-working man. Ke left a widow and six children. The youngest child was about 14. Deceased was born in New Zealand and was about 50 years of age. 1 The Doronei returned a verdict that death was due to heart failure.
