FINAL CAMP RETURNS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Oct. 24. Final returns from the camps, made up on (Monday, show that the 2'2nd Keinforeements mobilised last week 973 men short of the required strength. The shortages for the four military distri«£s were as follow: — Ancldand .........-...-rs I<S9 Wellington 288 Canterbury 2SI Otago ■-..• 237 373 The districts were asked last week to make up their shortages by Wednesday of this week, and supplementary drafts will enter camp to-morrow. But reports from the districts have shown that there is no likelihood of the response being large, and Defence Headquarters has decided to extend the period for another week. The recruiting officers have been astked to send forward as many men as- possible to reach camp on Wednesday of next week.
