Sir—As one of the tradesmen xho closed their phees of business this afternoon, I would feel obliged if yon coulA inform me through your columns, if id was necessary, according to the Shoo Act, to close the doors. I always understood thai when no statutory holiday fell in any particular week, the recognised half-holi-day had to be observed; and I will bo. pleased to be put clear on the raatter< I am, etc., LOSS OP PROFIT.. [Subsection A of Section lf» of tTio Shops and Ollice« Act reads: ''Where any special day (such as Labor Day) falls on another day than the statutory closisgdny it shall be deemed to be a sufficient compliance with the requirements of the. Act relating to the weekly half-holiday if the occupier of a shop in the district duly complies with these requirements on, the special day ; n lieu of on the statu-* tory closing day."
