Received Oct. 25, 9.55 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 25. The tug [Koputai, from Wellington, arrived much battered. She encountered a terrific gale, and. a sea smashed the port side. She ran short of coal, and was forced to ase woodwork to maintain steam. Her distress signals were unnoticed, but she managed to reach 'Botany Bay, where she obtained sufficient coal to bring her to Sydney.
