HURRICANE IN VIRGIN ISLAND. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. London, Oct. 24. The Colonial Office reports that the hurricane in the Virgin Islands caused 21 deaths and great damage to the crops and small boats. Two thousand are homeless. (The Virgin Islands are east of Porto Rico and include the Danish islands of St. Thomas and St. John, recently sold to America.) FORMING A NATIONAL PARTY. Received Oct. 25, 9.5i> p.m. Sydney, Oct. 25. A meeting of Parliamentary lenders agreed to the formation of a National Party. An early dissolution of Parliament is anticipated. TUG'S ROUGH VOYAGE. Received Oct. 25, 9.55 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 25. The tug [Koputai, from Wellington, arrived much battered. She encountered a terrific gale, and. a sea smashed the port side. She ran short of coal, and was forced to ase woodwork to maintain steam. Her distress signals were unnoticed, but she managed to reach 'Botany Bay, where she obtained sufficient coal to bring her to Sydney.
