SERBIANS STILL SUCCESSFUL
ALLIES REPULSE EXEMY. Eecoiveil Oct. 25, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 24. The German-Bulgar attacks on the Cerna salient failed. Serbian counterattacks took tl'.o trenches for eight hundred metres in depth. The weather in • hindering operations, and the height of tile river prevents activity at the Struma. A Roumanian communique says: We repulsed the enemy on the left bank of the Alma River, and also an attack on the whole front of Oatuz. The War Office reports that on the Doiran front we raided the trenches north-east of lloyukoo, counter-attacks being repulsed. , SERBIAN SUCCESS. London, October -4. A Serbian communique states that the Germans and Bulgars fiercely attacked the Serbian Vardar division unsuccessfully. Our first army advanced the whole length and took the first Bulgarian trenches. There was north of Veleselo, which was in our favor. ENTENTE TROOPS' ACTIVE. Petrograd, October 24. The Entente troops are making an effort to forestall the Austro-Germans' attempt to drive a wedge between the Russians and Roumanians, which would enable General Falkenliayn to advance down the Buzce Valley and make a junction with Mackensen, cutting off the greater part of Roumania. BOTH SIDES CLAIM SUCCESSES. London, October 24. A Russian communique declares:—The enemy is passive in the Trotus valley. We repulsed attacks on Orsova. Artillery is active on the Busco-Kimpolimg line. Under pressure the Roumanians retired to the heights north of ConstanzaMedjidie. The enemy occupied both towns. A German official report says:—We captured Predeal and Rassovo. A German communique says: We captured Predeal after bitter lighting., and broke down the Roumanian resistance at the southern exit of the Red Tower Pass. The cavalry, pursuing the disordered enemy, reached the region of Caramurat and captured Medjidie and Rassovo. The booty, including that of Saturday, gave a total of 6770 prisoners, 52 machineguns and 12 cannon.
