EGMONT NATIONAL PARK.
BOARD MEETING. A meeting of the Egmont National Park Board was held at the offije of the secretary, Mr. H. Stacker, yesterday morning, when there were present: Messrs G. 11. Bullard (chairman), (5. Percy-Smith, T. Anderson, J. R. Hill, C. Goodson, Morison, Crump and Tonks. Mr. P. Willcox was granted leave of absence. The appointment of Messrs Tylee. and Cassie as members of the West Committee was confirmed. The secretary reported that the North Committee had a credit balance of £lB 3s, South £9l 17s, East £l.B 10s fid, West £ls Os Bd, and the Board £36. The. Stratford County Council advised that the Upper Manaia Road had, without being re-made, 'beer put in fairly good order, and Mr. Anderson reported that the Council hoped to do further work there this season. The Department of Tourist and Health Resorts wrote that the Minister had approved of the allocation of the subsidy of £2OO, in accordance with the proposals contained in the Board's letter. Mr. Morison complained a number of valuable trees had been felled, in from the track, some distance below the North Egmont Hostel. This had presumably been done to procure firewood. —lt wa3 decided to refer the matter to Mr. Collis.
■Several complaints were received in connection with the trespassing of cattle in the reserve, and mem'bers expresed their determination to put a stop to the nuisance. A sub-committee was appointed to deal with the matter.
