THE EMPIRE.
A STRIKING ADVENTURE STORY OP THE FROZEN NORTH.
"OUI OF THE BIG SNOWS." The star feature at the Empire tonight is the Vitagraph company's blue l'ibbon star drama "From Out of the Big Snows," which appeals very strongly to those who enjoy tales of adventure, endurance, and daring in the great out-of-doors. The love theme is well woven, advantage being taken of the primitive natures of the trappers w'lio live in the snow-clad forests of north-west Canada. The plot centres 011 the love of a young mining speculator for a pretty girl in a dance hall in the baekblocks. The speculator incurs the hatred of a half-breed, who al?o loves the girl, and who lures the white man into the forest, and leaves him to the wolves. He is rescued in the nick of time and the half-breed meets his fate. The background of the story is set amidst a wealth of gorgeous scenery. In the comedy element a strong feature is supplied by the Triangle-Keystone Co. "Fatty" Arbuckle and Raymond Hitcheosk are the star performers, and between them "The Village Scandal" keeps the audience shrieking with laughte*. The French official war film shows General Mahon's defences at Salonika, a most interesting subject. The Topical Budget and a pretty scenic make up an excellent programme, which will ba screened for to-night only.
TO-MORROW. To-morrow night there will be another complete change of programmewhen the feature will be a picture version of the famous novel Robert Chambers, "The Fighting Chance." This programme also will be screened for one night only.
