NORTH AUCKLAND FRUIT LANDS.
SOUTHERN EXPERTS' EVIDENCE. Of great interest to those contemplating fruit culture is the opinion of experts throughout New Zealand. Especially docs this apply to experts from other . orchard districts. Some are, of course, obscured bv local prejudice,, but it is good to see leading fruit-growers rising above all parochialism and stating their opinion in good, straightforward language. A. P. Allport, Esq., member of the Board of Agriculture, president of the Stoke (Nelson) Fruitgrowers' Association, member of the executive of the New Zealand Fruit-grouvers' Federation says:—"Komiti.—This block very friable land and is particularly suited for successful apple-growing. The subsoil is sandy clay, ensuring long life to the trees. The same class of fruit land is selling in Nelsor at £25 to £33 per acre. As a fruit proposition it cannot be beaten."
Thos. Ilorton, Esq., F.R.11.5. (tlic ■'well-known Hastings nurseryman):— "Koiniti was a revelation to me, I had no idea there was such fine fruit-grow-ing land in the North. I am satisfied t!ia£ this land can produce almost any kind of fruit grown in New Zealand, to perfection. It is eminently adapted for producing apples and pears suitable for export." "Robt. Nairn, Esq., nurseryman of Christehurcli:—"Komiti soil .vill, properly tilled, yield a wealth pf fruit of the highest quality." Many others are quoted in the book, "The Fruit Lands of" the North." Copies can be procured (free) from the Secretary, Box BOli, Wellington. For the convenience of local resident; a supply of the books has been obtained by E. L. Humphries, who will be pleased to hand a copy to anyone interested.
