THE ItITTAWA DISABLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Union Company's collier Kittawa, bound fiom Greymouth to Lyttelton, put in at Wellington to-day for repairs to her steering gear. Leaving' Grey earlv on Saturday morning tho vessel was beset by heavy weather, the seas frequently sweeping over her decks. When abreast of the Brothers' Light the steering gear on the bridge was carried away. Temporary repairs were effected, and with the aid of hej Bteani winches the Kittawa was taken into Queen Charlotte Sounds, where the engineeVs n.ade sufficient further repairs to enable tne ship, still using tke winches, to work the rudder apd to cross the Strait to Wellington. It is hoped that the vessel will be able to resume her voyage to-morrow.
