By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellingon, Last Night. ■ A deputation from the New Zealanl Institute asked the Minister for Internal Affairs for .a definite understanding witb reference to the vote for scientific research work. The deputation pointed out that the sum of £250 on the Estimates should not be limited to-ifte work of immediately apparent economic, value, but that some latitude should be allowed to the Institute.

Mr. Russell expressed appreciation of the points mentioned, and suggesed that the best course for the Institute was to lay before him from time to time tils work proposed to bo done. He wonl4 readily sanction votes in the right direction, from the money' available. "
