(By Our Special Reporter.) Stratford, Friday. A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. A meeting 0 f the executive was held on Thursday evening, Mr. E. Jackson presiding. Matters concerning the forthcoming annual show were discussed, including engagement of a band, but actior was deferred until next meeting. Six new members were elected. The matter of securing roofing iron for bull pen 3 was left to Mr. C. Jackson with power to act. Messrs G. Symes & Co., Hawera, were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the gift of a gate. The catering was again entrusted to Dustin's, Ltd., Wanganui, on the same terms as last year. Canvassers' reports re securing entries were considered yery "satisfactory. RED CROSS CONCERT The above concert, held in the Town Hall last night, was a great success, the building 'being filled with a delighted audience, and encores were numerous. Those assisting included Misses Rowe, Rodgers (2), Edwards, Sangster, Kimble (2) (Hawera), Robson, Spence and Currie; Messrs Jones, Rnnford, Aitken, Walters, and Foley, whilst a squad of school children went through dumb-bell exercises. The Mayor (Mr. Boon) presided, and appealed to those present for generous support on Red Cross Day (Saturday), which would be made general throughout Taranaki.
The street collectors on Saturday will be on the go throughout the day. The stall-holders intend disposing of a threemonths? ticket for the pictures, donated by Mr. F. Foley; a beautiful supper cloth, donated by Mrs. R. Dingle, and a Christmas cake from a country lady. Mr. Lamason, at the mart, will also dispose of a carving given in aid of the fund. MAGISTRATE'S COURT. A sitting of the Magistrate's Court was held this afternoon, before Mr. W. iR. Haselden, S.M. The principal business dealt with a charge against Benjamin Ilunttr, a Territorial, for failing to attend parade. Mr. Fookes appeared for defendant, who, it was admitted, was now attending parade regularly, and the Magistrate adjourned the case until December 15, when, if the attendance continue satisfactory, the charge will bo withdrawn. Several debt eases were heard, judgment for plaintiff by default being given in tlie following:—T. Davis v. 11. Willis, claim £3 lis Id, costs 12s; Lester Bros, v. D. GENERAL. ■ In recent examinations Miss Bessie Rodgers passed the term's examination for the B.A. degree, and Masters C. 'Rodgers and G. Saunders obtained passes in tlie legal examination. The demolition of two business premises in Broadway, to make way for the new picture theatre, is making good progress. The carpenters are having a dry job pulling down the buildings. The ground space indicates that the company should be able to accommodate a good attendance of the public. y
