Meat—New Zealand mutton and lamb continue in pood demand. There were no arrivals of Dutch mutton this week. There is no New Zealand ox beef on the market. Now Zealand cow beof, hinds "'/od, Tores Gi/,d; Argentine chilled beef, hinds n>/ 4 d, fores 7y 3 (l. Butter.—The market is quiet and prices are slightly weaker. Danish, demand is rather quiet, per cwt 208s to 2125; Irish creamery, salted lfl4s to 198s, unsalted 490s to -200s; New Zealand, market is steady, salted 198? to 200s; American creamery, salted lSls to 188s; Argentine, salted 104s to 1965, imsalted 19Gs. Cheese.—The market is firm at the advance. Canadian, market continues firm, white, per cwt 112s to 114s, colored 1123 to 114s; English cheddar, in fair demand, 122s to 1245; New Zealand continues in good demand, white Ill's to 112s, colored 110s to H2s: States Flat's, white HOs, colored 110s.

■Hemp—The market is> firm, with hardening tendency, on account of scarcity of freights. New Zealand, market is linn but unsettled, owing to reports concerning advance in shipping charges and doubt with regard to arrival shipments. Quotations are nominal. Rood-fair New Zealand hemp, per ton, £SO 10s, fair £4B 10s; Government graded fair Manila £52 10s, coarse £SO; October- December shipment, good-fair New Zealand £SO, fair £4S; Government graded fair Manila £52, coarse £49. The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 20,000 bales. Stocks of New Zealand hemp on hand at the end of September were 435 tons. Wheat. —The market is firm, but demand is only moderate, on account of Government purchases and control. Cannot give quotations during present condition of market. Oats. —The market is firm, with improved demand. New Zealand, ex store, 34s Gd. Wool.—The market remains firm. Hops.—The market is quiet but firm.
