EAST END RESERVE.
MEETING OP COMMITTEE. Matters affecting the East End bathing reserve were discussed at a meeting of the governing committee held last evening. } The seclctary, Mr. A. J. Richards, .asked the meeting to endorse his action ii allowing -Mrs. Jenkins, secretary of the recent ball held by the Fitzroy"l''irc Brigade in aid of the Red Cross fund, is b'd oil' the usual charge for the use of the pavilion. A warm discussion followed regarding the advisability of the secretary's action. It was ultimately resolved that, in view of the fact that Mrs. Jenkins had already been charged {he full hire, and that this decision was on the minutebook, a rebate of the full amount be made.
It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. W. Hardgreaves, to request the Borough Council to put the main approach tc the reserve in repair. The resignation of Mr. C. N. Sadler as a member of the committer was actypted with regret. The secretary, in intimating that he wished to resign, said the Committee owed £BO when he took office. He had reduced this amount by ,Cl(i, and had paid for all socials that iiad been held during his term of office. He would be glad if someone else took up the position. He had done his best, despite the rebuffs he had received. Mr. 'Richards said he had been keen to further the improvements of the East iSml, and he would nlwavs maintain his interest in the Committee's activities. He added that without the co-operation ot the Committee lie could not have done so well.
At tlie instance of the chairman, Ma Richards agreed to remain in office until the annual meeting, which was adjourned until November 1.
