(From Our Own Correspondent.) ] The executive of the A. pnd P. Association met on Thursday 11 icrnt ani pot through a considerable amount of business. There is every indication that the Slratford show of 101G will be the best the Association has lmd The volunteer reinforcement," I'ive for camp on Monday mornicg, and v.'ill be addressed by his Worship th-3 Mayor, the Rev. Dawson Madill, end Mr. J. Masters. The whole three gentlemen have brothers or sons on active service. Our country friends are very assiduous in seeing that the boys have a good send-off. Cardiff, Mid'hirst, Pembroke Road, and other centres are all farewelling the recruits. The single cons of families who have not yet sent any are getting into form for the next lot. There is still time to volunteer, and they will then be starred in the Gazette as "wents." The Town Clerk, Messrs I. Masters and C. D. Sole are waiting to enlist fit men at any time. The Domain' Board met to-day o.nd further considered the application of the Borough Council for a crusher site on the east side of the Patea river. It is to be hoped the*' wil] arrive at a satisfactory arrangement. The County Council have their new tar-boiling plant under weigh, and it won't be long before we have a tarsealed road from Waipuku to Ngaere. The erection of a new school at Stanley Road, also one inland of Xgaere, will be put in hand almost at ones, both being urgently needed. The Minister of (Public Works was unable to arrange for meeting any deputations at Stratford, so members of the Chamber of Commerce went to Bawera to interview him there. The Government have decided to take over the Otaki Sanitarium from the Wellington Hospital Board, and it is quite possible Taracaki patients will now go south. The question of dealing with maternity cases at the local 'hospital was left in the hands of a committee to report at the next meeting if it be possible .to carry out the Government's suggestion. It would be a boon to many I The members of the A. and P. Association are very alive, and on Thursday next they will eall on all farmers to secure record entries.
