STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Oct. 11. The directors of the new picture syndicate met yesterday and adopted plans for tlie new theatre to be erected in Broadway. It will have u frontage of 39 feet with a depth of 145 feet, a;id will seat 300 more people than the present picture theatre. Tenders are to be called immediately, and it is hoped to have the building completed in six months' time The miilding will certainly add to the appearance of Broadway. Messrs. K. Masters, C. A. Wilkinson, and E. Dixon, members of the Taranaki Education Board, am visiting Wangamii to-morrow with a view of adjusting the finances between the two Boards. The amount collected in this district for the Belgian Relief Fund to date is £2083 fls 6d.
The Census Enumerators are busy distributing the census papers for Sunday evening. Resident? will have a busy time counting heads, as well as the farm-yard poultry and the number of bees owned by the, householder. The death is announced of Mr. R. A. Stewart, of Akaroa, at the advanced age of 83 years. He was the father of Messrs. A. Stewart (Stratford), and J. Stewart (Cardiff), both of whom left by the mail train this morning t- attend the funeral.
