ENEMY LINES FORCED. RUSSIAN POSITION CONSOLIDATED VIOLENT BATTLE RAGING. | Reuter Service. London, Oct. 9. A Russian communique states: In the direction of Viadimir-Volynski we forced the enemy lines, occupied them, and consolidated our positions. The enemy offensive east of Brzezany failed. Our torpedoers on Friday raided Sumsun and Sinope, destroyed fifty-eight sailing boats, and bombarded the harbor. 'Petrograd, Oct. !). V The Telegraaf say's that a violent battle is raging at Viadimir-Volynski and Haliez. General Brusiloff is attacking at several points. The operations have brought valuable aid to the Roumanians, for several enemy regiment? sent from Lemberg to Hungary have been recalled to the Russian frontier.
