Campbell, son of Mr. W. J. Campbell, of Remuera (formeily of Eltliafn),.has died of wounds received on September 23rd. Trooper Campbell was for some time in the employ of Mr Crcsswcll, grocer, of Eltham, and was about 22 years of age. News has been received that Private K. Stohr, who left with the 10th Reinforcements, has been wounded. No particulars are to hand. Private Stohr was a prominent member of the Rovers and Tukapa Football Clubs. A London cablegram states that Kingi Hamana has died at the Walton-on-Thames hospital. He is said to be the first Maori soldier who has died in England. Mr. ,T. Harden has received advice that his son, Private George Hayden, was wounded on September 18. Private Hayden went with the Samoan force, and then left with the Stli Reinforcements. Mrs. 0. M. Curtis, of Stratford, has received a cablegram from her son, Corporal Leslie Curtis, who was wounded in France recently, stating that he is only slightly wounded, and at present is in London. Rifleman W. C. Christian, whose name appeared in the recent casualty lists, was the son of Mrs. M. J. Christian, a late resident of Oinata and New Plymouth. Mrs. Christian was the daughter of W. Carlton, a private of the 43rd Light Infantry, who fought in India, and at the Gate Pah, and at New Plymouth. Mrs. Christian landed with her father in the Lady Jocelyn at Auckland fifty years ago. F. James, of Cover street, New Plymouth, received advice, yesterday that his third son, Private. Leslie .lames, was killed in action'in France on Sept 15.
