Mr. Edward Barry, school-teacher of Westown. was cycling in to Xcw Plymouth, and Mr. S. K. Shaw (of Newton King's Inglewood -Staff) was travelling out. Apparently Mr. Barnr's machine sweived from some unknown reason, and Mr. Shaw cYnshVd into l»iln. Mr. Barry was thrown heavily, and received severe cuts oh the throat and the forehead. . He was taken to the Terminus Hotel, where he received attention, and Dr. Wade, who was exiled, attended to the wounds. The push-bike suffered almost beyond recognition.
A meeting of the Fitzroy School Committee was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. \V. G. tfciil presiding. The resign nation of Mr. A. Jones was neeepted, and he was thanked for his past services. Mr. buckworth was 'appointed to fill the vacancy, and he was welcomed by the chairman. Tt Was decided to hold a a musical ant elocutionary conlpotitioii among the scholars, Messrs. Reid. Johnson and Duckworth being appointed a committee to carry out the same. The headmaster (Mr. 0. Johnson) reported the a\erage attendance as 140.5. put of a roll of 160. It was "decided that the scholars should give an item on the. programme for the forthcoming Soldiers'' Comforts Week entertainments. Accounts amounting to £(i 8s lUs were passed for paymtnt.
