A London cable states that Lieutenant Hodges Bedford one off tlie staff of the W-anganui Collegiate Board, has been killed in action. Mr. W. Quickfall, Spotswood, has received word that his son S. J. Quickfall, who left with the 9th Reinforcements, has been wounded in the wrist, and is in hospital. Mr. VV. A. Collis, of New Plymouth, received advice on Saturday that his youngest son, Quartermaster-Sergeant Douglas Collis, was wounded on September 15. Amongst those in this morning's casualty list reported as having been killed in action in France is Private A. E. Tickner, who was a well-known and popular figure on the New Plymouth wharves. Mr. R. Gilbert, of Hurworth, has received word that his son, Lance-Corporal Leo 0. Gilbert, has been wounded in France, and admitted to hospital! suffering from a slight, wound in the thigh. At the time of his enlistment lie was employed in the railway locomotive department at Hawera.

Advice was received on Saturday that Rifleman Brian Hairy Skeet, vengest son of Mr. H. M. Skeet, Commis-.oner of Crown Lands at Auckland, and formerly of New Plymouth, had been killed in action. Rifleman Skeet was only 19$ years of age. He win. cducate'd at -N'elson College and Waitaki High School, and enlisted with Lord Liverpool's Own. Anothei of the young men of lirs made the great sacrifice foi honor and justice. We refer to Rifleman I'ircy Turner, who ha; succumbed to wounds received in action in France. He was the eldest son of Mr. J. Turner, ol F.ltham. and enlisted ii. the Rifle Brigade, "he young soldier was of '.terling character and was well known and respected j'n the district, and his death will be deeply regretted by all who knew him.— Eltham Argus. Private Ernest Leary, reported wounded in France, is a son of Mrs. M. 'ij-M-y, of leach Street. He left NewZealand as a sapper in the Engineers accompanying the 4th Reinforcements, but contracted pneumonia at Gallipoli, and returned in September last year. In Deamber he joined the Signalling Corps, and went to the front again with the flth Reinforcements. In Wednesday's casualty list was contained the name of Captain Vere Bogle, yet another doctor to lose his life in this war. Dr. Bogle married Miss Margaret Fell, the second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fell, late of Wellington. Dr. Feill is now in a- military hospital in England, and Mrs. Bogle accompanied he|r parents Home, and has been staying in! London with her mother wfliile' 'Dr. Bdgle was at the front. Captain Bogle is Isurvived also by a daughter, only~a-fe-i/ nionths old. News bias been received from London reporting that Private Douglas Smith, of jthe Main Expeditionary Force, was killed in action in France on July 3. Private Smith, who was a son of Mr. Thbmas and Mrs. Agnes Smith, of Montpellier Square, Knightsbridge, London, saw a good deal of action at Gallijjoli before 'lie was wounded and invalided to England. In New Zealand Mr. Smith was well known as an expert in dairy factory work, having at different times been connected 'with the Dalelield, Tararua, Eltham and Mahoe (as manager) factories. The deceased was about 27 years of age.
