THE ."UNIOR'J PERFORM. AN ENV ,ABLE RECITAL. There was a very large attendance of l'ie public at Pukekura Park yesterday »fternoon, when the Citizens' Band, under tlu baton of Bandmaster F. W. 0. Mcleod, f»ave a recital, every item of •vliich was hugely enjoyed by the crowd, the applause that greeted each piece being spontaneous and hearty. Additional interest was lent to the recital o> the fact that it was the first appearance of the Junior Band, a branch i<f the Senior Band. They acquitted themselves admirably in the short prolamine they presented and when it is censidered that the Juniors have not yet l>< eu three months in existence their playing yesterday testified not jnly to their own musical talent but to the able tuition of the conductor., Mr. Moliod must be warmly congratulated upon the strides which the band as a whole, bad made under bin guidance, aril}- upon tM» work of hi., junio: corps. There very promising future before the bandjfl yesterday's performance may be taken IT a criterion. The programme was.: Seniors: "L'Entente Cordiale;" quickstep, "Formidable"; overture, ''The Pied Piper"; sei.ftion, "The Mikado": march, "Seipio" '.Handel). The two latter were finely played. The Juniors rendered two hymns, a slow march, and a dainty valsette. Then the two bands, en masse, n'ayed Hall's "New Colonial March," and the National Anthem. The collection in aid of the Band Equipment Fund realised £2l IBs Id.
