FIRE AT GAS WAREHOUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 25. There was' a aoiious outbreak ot fire in the Uas Company's warehouse on Clyde Quay last evening, which fortunately was 'sui',pressed by the brigade before i' could spread from the third floor. Considerable damage was done by fire an> water to ( the contents, which were insured Jn the Royal Company for £! 1,930.' The in.wance on the buildings is not yet available. TOXGARIRO SALVAGE ABANDONED. Napier, Sept. 25. The diver's report on the Tongariro is unfavorable to the continuanco of further salvage opinions. Both halves i.f the ship are broken up, and it is impossible to conduct operations on a paying basis. The -mall coastal vessels which have bam sending by have therefore been recalled.
