THE CORINNA,, After discharging a full load of produce from southern ports the Corinna left last- night for Wellington. She will return here on Wednesday. p ——» NOTES. The Auckland-owned scow Arrah Na Pogue is now 35 days out from Wellington to Hokianga. The last heard of her was from the coast near Blenheim, where she was sheltering from the heavy weather which was met shortly after leaving Wellington. Advice has been received that the steamer Vermont (427 J. tons, Captain Uainmcll), which left New York for Ne'w Zealand, via Panama, on August 23, left Balboa on September 7, and will be due hi Auckland about October 7 and at Wellington on October 13. She later goes on to Australian ports. The vessel is one of tiie fifteen vessels 'purchased a few months ago by the Australian Government, and was bought for £l'll),OO0. From information made available recently it appears that excellent progress is being made with the construction of the three Shaw, Savill and Albion liners Mahana, Malm-and Karanga, and that very soon now they should be in commission. The Mahana will be the largest of the trio (12,000 tons register), and probably she will be the first placed in the running.
The Nippon Yusen Kaisha steamer Akita Maru (3D72 tons), which arrived at Wellington on Friday, is Japanesebuilt, and has a crew of 53 all told, all natives of the Land of the Rising Sun.
